Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City received the OB Clinical Excellence Award. Presented by Dan O’Keeffe, M.D., PeriGen’s Chief Medical Officer, and Vicki Lucas, R.N.C., Ph.D., PeriGen’s Chief Nursing Officer, Lenox Hill was honored for their unmatched level of performance as recorded by the analytics and reporting feature of PeriGen’s advanced clinical decision support solution. This award recognizes Lenox Hill’s outstanding achievement and peerless performance in patient safety.
 
Banner Desert Medical Center and Banner Gateway Medical Center, both members of the Phoenix, AZ based Banner Health system, received the OB Nursing Excellence Award. Presented by Dr. Lucas, the award recognizes Banner’s excellent performance in nursing, as measured by the PeriGen’s nursing dashboard.
 
For his outstanding work in patient safety, George Neubert, M.D., was honored with the Leadership in Patient Safety Excellence Award. Presented by Dr. O’Keeffe, the award recognizes the OB Chair who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to patient safety, driving a cycle of continuous quality improvement within the department and the hospital. Dr. Neubert is Chair of the Department of Obstetrics at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, PA.
 
Maimonides Medical Center of New York City was presented the Strides in OB Patient Safety Award, in recognition of Maimonides’ great progress toward the goal of OB patient safety in 2009, demonstrated by positive trending data reported by PeriGen’s dashboards.  Maimonides’ award was also presented by Dr. O’Keeffe.
 
The Advancement in the Science of OB Care Award was presented to Franklin Square Hospital and Harbor Hospital, both members of Baltimore, MD based MedStar Health system. Presented by Emily Hamilton, M.D., PeriGen’s Senior Vice President of Clinical Research, the award recognizes MedStar’s contribution in advancing the science of OB care through research performed using PeriGen’s databank of over 300,000 births. Accepting the awards  for MedStar were Sam Smith, M.D., Chair of the Department of OB/Gyn at Franklin Square Hospital and Marion Kerns, M.S.N., B.S.N, Director of Nursing at Harbor Hospital. 
 
The third annual PeriGen Knowledge Summit, entitled “Entering a New Decade in OB Care,” brought together scientists and clinician, as well as representatives of leading professional societies and non-profit organizations, to discuss their shared mission of improving patient safety in obstetrics. Attendees included representatives from the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM), the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Association of Women’s Health, Neonatal and Obstetric Nurses (AWHONN), the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), Childbirth Connection, and Amnesty International (AI).
