The beautiful Qualcomm Life booth at this year’s HIMSS show was great setting for our introduction of PeriWatch® Vigilance™, as well our new partnership with the Qualcomm Life team.  Our Labor & Delivery kiosk within the booth featured a preview of our new perinatal early warning system.  The new software is in development and is designed to notify clinicians about patients whose conditions are worsening.  It uses artificial intelligence to continuously analyze maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate, contractions, and labor progression. Notification thresholds can be configured by each institution and the actual alerts appear on the department census board.

Without requiring a hospital to “rip and replace” its current perinatal system, the enterprise-wide PeriWatch Vigilance is simple to implement with minimal interfacing to all EMRs, including Epic, Cerner, Meditech, and Allscripts.

Most importantly, PeriWatch Vigilance’s technology has been associated with improved outcomes:  Lower unanticipated NICU admissions, fewer newborn resuscitations, and controlled cesarean rates.

One of the most unique features of PeriWatch Vigilance is the HUB dashboard. PeriWatch Vigilance’s HUB can monitor dozens or even hundreds of labor and delivery patients from one or many sites.

It automatically identifies patients with worsening conditions, highlights them and brings them to the top of the HUB dashboard, making it easier to see where and why attention is needed.   With a single click, further relevant details and long-term trend displays are available. Users can set HUB to display all patients, only those from certain sites or just those that are highlighted.

Any patient can be pinned to the top of the display so they are always visible. Each column is sortable as desired by a user. After a period of time, The HUB dashboard will return to the prioritized patient view using the sorting criteria specified by the hospital or health system.
