Eric Knox, MD, FACOG, will join the Company as a Senior Physician Consultant. Dr. Knox will work with experts in discreet areas of clinical risk management and obstetrics to evaluate client hospitals against current patient safety standards and best practices of care, and tailor solutions to help them meet their individual clinical and financial goals.
A founding board member of the National Patient Safety Foundation, Dr. Knox is a board certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist and risk management expert. He has published over 115 articles and given over 200 lectures to nurses, physicians and governing boards on all aspects of clinical risk management and patient safety.
In addition to his role in PeriGen’s Consulting Solutions Group, Dr. Knox is a member of PeriGen’s Physician Council, a distinguished group of physician experts who have been invited to advise and assist PeriGen in the development of solutions to improve clinical outcomes in Obstetrics.

Dr. Knox is a professor of OB-GYN at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. His research interests are focused on qualitative patterns of nurse-physician communication, and their effect on patient injury in obstetrics. Most recently, Dr. Knox co-authored an article with long-time research partner Kathleen Rice Simpson, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Carol C. Kortz, entitled “A Comprehensive Perinatal Patient Safety Program to Reduce Preventable Adverse Outcomes and Costs of Liability Claims,” which appeared in the Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety. In addition to his work with PeriGen, Dr. Knox will continue to research and consult on an independent basis.
