Cost Effective Ways to Show Staff Appreciation

National Nurse’s Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th. During this week, we celebrate the incredible nurses across the country for the work they do every day to care for and protect our communities. Nurses deserve to be celebrated today and every day! Below, you will find some cost-effective ways to show appreciation to your staff. Feel free to download the images to use on your unit!

Small Gifts– ~$1-3 per person

Order boxes of donuts and let staff know you “donut” know what you would do without them!
Buy Travel Hand Sanitizer, scented hald sanitizer, individually wrapped soap, portable soap sheets and let your staff know they are “Hands down – the best around!”
Treat your team to some gourmet popcorn! Let them know you are “popping byto tell them how great they are!
Nurses are life savers – let them know with this classic hard candy!
Put together some lip balm or chapstick and let your team know they are “the balm!”
Buy individually wrapped cookies or snacks and tape little labels on them.

In a common area, put up a sign with the word NURSE and lists all of the nurses on your staff. Tape or sticky note up all the words used to describe the nurses on your staff.
Show your team they are valued! Have physicians and support staff write a thank you note to nurses on your team, tape them up in a common area for all to appreciate.
Feature nurses around the unit, and on social media. Showcase your staff for what they are good at on and off the unit.
