Welcome to episode 391 of the AI in Action podcast, the show where we break down the hype and explore the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.

Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in North America and Europe.

Today’s guest is Matthew Sappern, CEO at PeriGen. Founded in 1995, PeriGen offers innovative perinatal software solutions that incorporate advanced statistical analysis features to enhance clinical efficiency and standardization of care during childbirth. Led by skilled OB practitioners and IT visionaries, PeriGen has created the PeriWatch® platform to provide consistent analysis and efficient display of complex data in real-time to promote better human recognition and communication about impending problems during labor.

In 2021, Matthew led PeriGen through a competitive sales process, culminating in a high value exit for investors. This outcome was the capstone of his efforts to transform an underperforming obstetrical documentation company into the global leader in applying FDA-cleared AI to obstetrical care. These efforts led to significant reductions in babies transferred to the NICU, three consecutive years of double-digit growth in sales, revenue and earnings and a number of national awards for product innovation.

In the episode, Matthew will discuss:

The fascinating work they do at PeriGen

Applying AI and Data to impact perinatal care

Their journey over the past decade & current make-up of the team

Goals and milestones they are working towards

Career opportunities to work with PeriGen

Current impact in the market & the future of the platform
