Emily F. Hamilton, MD
An experienced obstetrician, Dr. Hamilton has held various academic appointments at McGill University, including Director of the Residency Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of Perinatology. Currently, she is as an Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill. With over 20 years of experience as a practicing obstetrician, Dr. Hamilton has served on various Canadian National Task Forces defining Clinical Practice Guidelines for fetal surveillance. Her research team has included members with diverse backgrounds such as mathematics, computer science and engineering along with experienced nursing and medical clinicians. They were successful in creating mathematical models to be used at the bedside to help the clinical staff assess fetal heart rate patterns, labor progress and risk of shoulder dystocia. This research was applied to the development of the PeriCALM® suite of fetal monitoring technologies. Dr. Hamilton presents regularly at academic conferences focusing on patient safety or risk management for obstetrical services. She is the author of numerous published scientific articles in the area of preventing birth related injury and holds 25 issued US and international patents related to obstetrics. She is a well respected researcher, clinician, speaker and inventor.
Yoni Barnhard, MD
Yoni Barnhard, MD is Chair of the Department of OB/Gyn and Director of Maternal and Child Health at Norwalk Hospital. Specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Dr. Barnhard has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles on Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and is a member of numerous maternal fetal medicine societies. Dr. Barnhard is the former Vice-Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Director of Obstetrics, and the Director of Quality Improvement & Patient Safety at Lenox Hill Hospital. He has held academic appointments at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the State University of New York, and is currently on the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women’s Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University. Dr. Barnhard’s specific areas of interest include family umbilical cord banking, prenatal molecular diagnostic testing, and fetal ultrasound. A graduate of Columbia University, Dr. Barnhard attended the Stackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel, and completed his residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.
Arnold W. Cohen, MD
Arnold W. Cohen, MD trained in OB/Gyn and MFM at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He has been Chairman, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Director of Obstetrics and Maternal- Fetal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and now Chairman of Ob/Gyn at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He has been a Professor of OB/Gyn at both Jefferson Medical College and University of Pennsylvania. His major academic interests have been in the management of high risk pregnant patients with medical complications of pregnancy. In 1993 he became Corporate Medical Director of Women’s Health at U.S. Healthcare and then Aetna responsible for the development and implementation of all Women’s Health Care programs for 18.5 million members.
He has served as the President of many local and national Perinatal and OB Associations and committees including the Philadelphia Perinatal Society and the Pennsylvania Section of ACOG. He has been the chairman of ACOG’s Committee on Course Coordination, a Board Member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, member of the Coding and Government Relations committee and Chair of the Medical Liability Committee. He is the President of the Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia at this time.
Thomas J. Garite, MD
A specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, in addition to his work with PeriGen and its clients, Thomas J. Garite, MD, holds three positions which include: Editor-In-Chief, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Chairman, Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Foundation; Director of Research and Education for Obstetrix/Pediatrix Medical Group. Dr. Garite is the author or co-author of five textbooks and has published over 100 original journal articles and a similar number of abstracts, chapters and invited articles. He is a past president of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, as well as a twelve year member of its Board of Directors. He has also been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of the Oral Examinations for this Board, as well as a Member of the Technical Bulletin and Course Coordination Committee of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. A recipient of the Career Achievement Award from the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the National Teaching Award from the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Garite remains active in clinical research.
A. George Neubert, MD
A. George Neubert, MD is Chair and Program Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. After graduating from Hahnemann University School of Medicine and completing his residency at The Reading Hospital, Dr. Neubert spent two years at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center as a Clinical Fellow and Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His tenure at The Reading Hospital began in 1995 as Associate Director of the OB/Gyn Department and Section Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Neubert also holds a subspecialty certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society of Perinatal Obstetrics, the Philadelphia Obstetrical Society, the Philadelphia Perinatal Society, and the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine.
Samuel Smith, MD
Dr. Samuel Smith is Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Director of the Women’s and Children’s Service Line at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, positions he has held with MedStar Health since 2003. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Smith served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harbor Hospital Center and Acting Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Dr. Smith received his medical degree in 1981 from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine, completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University Medical Center in 1985, and completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology-Infertility at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 1987. Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology-Infertility. He served on the ASRM Practice Committee for six years and was Chair of the ASRM Patient Education Committee for six years. Dr. Smith has received numerous honors and recognitions including Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, and Baltimore’s Top Doc (2009-2011), and has distinguished himself in the area of Patient Safety and Quality as the Chairman of MedStar Health’s Council for Ideal Obstetrical Care. Most recently, he is a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the ACOG Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care.
