PeriGen CNO Rebecca Cypher Discusses Fetal Heart Rate Interpretation at AWHONN 2014

PeriGen demos PeriCALM fetal surveillance solution at booth #601

WORKSHOP:  Rebecca Cypher, MSN, PNNP, PeriGen’s Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), along with Lori Irwin, R.N., MSN, CNS, Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist, will co-present a pre-convention workshop at the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Annual Convention 2014 in Orlando, Florida.  Titled “Fetal Morse Code: Translating Fetal Monitoring Language for Daily Practice, the all-day workshop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT takes place on Saturday, June 14, at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort.

Obstetric nurses are often challenged by the perplexing world of fetal heart rate (FHR) baseline rates, rhythms, periodic and non-periodic changes in addition to baffling uterine activity patterns during the phases of labor. Cypher and Irwin will review principles of FHR interpretation and management using a standardized approach that is evidence based and reflects consensus in OB literature, analyze patterns and uterine activity via case studies emphasizing tenets of fetal heart monitoring and relevant childbirth care, and discuss optimal strategies for managing FHR tracings.

DEMO:  PeriGen will demo its PeriCALM® patented, clinical decision support-based fetal surveillance solution at booth #601 June 15-18 at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort.

Independently validated by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), PeriCALM interfaces labor and delivery (L&D) charting data to standard acute electronic health record systems to complete a single record for every mother and her newborn, providing the best patient safety environment. OB clinicians can review labor patterns up to 12 hours on e-monitor strips, gaining unprecedented access and insight to the most critical and time-sensitive indicators of each labor. PeriCALM in installed in nearly 60 hospitals and has serviced more than 1 million births.

SPONSOR:  PeriGen is partnering with AWHONN to sponsor the March of Dimes’ March for Babies campaign. For every attendee completed e-fetal monitor survey, PeriGen will donate to the March of Dimes.

INTERVIEW:  Rebecca Cypher, MSN, PNNP, PeriGen CNO and AWHONN fetal heart monitoring instructor and author. Post-event interviews can be arranged.
